Wellness Care's Directors, Wayne and Bronwyn Reilly have a combined skill base, in medical research of almost 40 years, and when combined with their numerous Tertiary and Professional qualifications positions Wellness Care at the forefront of Complimentary Medicine education. Wayne Reilly BSc MSc (Hons) DCNBorn in Innisfail Queensland but raised and educated in Sydney, Wayne has had a broad range of experience in Biomedical Science at both research and non research roles. His interests in the pathology and Biochemistry of disease led him to a number of tertiary qualifications including a Certificate of Pathology, a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Physiology and a Master of Science Honors, in Cellular Biochemistry. In the early 1980's he researched the role of the extracellular matrix in cell function and its role in angiogenesis (the extracellular matrix is the cellular glue that holds the body together and is found in cartilage, and skin). He is an author and co-author of over 50 articles published in peer reviewed scientific journals and author of 5 books in nutriceuticals in health. In the late 1980's and early 1990's he further his interest in collagens when he investigated the biology of photoageing (the study of the role of ultraviolet light in the formation of weathered skin and wrinkle formation). He was the first to report the reparative effects a naturally occurring dipeptide antioxidant by its reducing of UV induced collagen damage in the skin. In 1990 he was awarded an MSc Honors degree by Macquarie University for his thesis on the extracellular matrix. In the mid-1990's he was a co-inventor in a new lipophillic delivery system for carrying bioactive molecules into the skin which became the basis of his 2nd and 3rd international patents. In the late 1990's he furthered this research into the topical delivery (through the skin) of bioactive molecules for the treatment of Psoriasis. Waynes' research career has been predominantly with the CSIRO and Sydney University. He is a well known communicator in complimentary medicine and regularly lectures to both professionals and non professionals in the application of natural medicines to disease. His professional qualifications also include a Post Graduate Diploma of Clinical Nutrition. He is a practicing Clinical Nutritionist and is a member of the Australian Traditional Medicine Society, the National Herbalists Association of Australia and the Australian Regulatory and Clinical Scientists Association and a Committee Member of the Mutagen and Experimental Pathology Society of Australiasia.
